COMMISSION PERMISSION: RETHINKING PATIENT RECRUITMENT

tips-figure

Have you ever considered offering commission to your dental practice staff?

I know this isn’t exactly standard operating procedure in a dental practice, but the idea has merit, based on other industries.

The profit incentive is a very powerful motivator. And while I don’t suggest you convert your entire staff to commission only, it’s very likely there’s a healthy percentage of prospective employees who would welcome the opportunity to make a lot more money than they otherwise could.

Perhaps consider a hybrid model where some of your more aggressive employees come on board or transition to earning a minimal base salary – enough to allow them to afford your local area, but sacrificing the luxuries.

I have found that employing this model on a limited basis has unique benefits. By offering a large commission to employees who successfully recruit first-time patients, what you’re essentially doing is motivating your front office staff – transforming them into sales professionals, and maximizing your new patient recruitment tools.

Is this model right for everyone? No.

But if you are of the mindset that thinking differently means thinking better – than consider at least a trial period of this approach. You may be surprised by how effective it can be.
