THE POWER OF RISK REVERSAL

tips-figure

For the average dentist “risk reversal” might be a foreign term.

Risk reversal is a marketing tactic that, as the term implies, places risk on the performer – not the recipient of any transactional arrangement.

The classic risk reversal includes money back guarantees or non-payment until satisfied.

While I would caution against such a strategy for the dental patient (cash flow could be a nightmare if half your patients felt like they didn’t want to pay) the approach may work in an internal capacity.

What if an employee of yours wanted to achieve career growth and sought a promotion? Instead of offering it outright, consider an incentive structure where the employee takes on a more advanced role for 60-90 days as a trial period. But they accept this trial promotion at their current salary.

The risk of promotion has been transferred to the employee, not the employer. Doing so incentivizes the employee to do a better job.

Consider this novel approach to incentivizing your staff the next time someone asks for a raise or seeks career advancement.
